Jefferson City Walmart Sells $2 Million Winning Scratchers Ticket

May. 23, 2025

After finishing his grocery shopping, a Missouri Lottery player was browsing the vending machine for a Scratchers ticket at Walmart, 724 Stadium West Blvd. in Jefferson City, when the new “$2,000,000 Jackpot Fortune” game caught his eye. The moment quickly led to a life changing purchase for his family.

“I’ve never seen that ticket before so I thought I’d give it a try,” the winner said.

Once out of the store and in his car, he began scratching off the ticket and learned he had found one of the game’s top prizes of $2 million.

“I picked up the phone and called my son,” he explained. “He thought I was lying! Everyone thought I was lying!”

Even though it did take some convincing to make them believe the win was real, the winner said the money would go toward helping his family’s future.

“I can just use this money to help get the family on track,” he said. “This way, no one will have to stress out about money and that’s the biggest thing.”

He added that the first thing he did when speaking to his son was offer to help him buy some heavy equipment.

“He picks up the phone and I just go, ‘So, you still wanting that excavator?” the winner said.

$2,000,000 Jackpot Fortune” players have already won over $4.4 million in prizes since the $20 game began on April 28. Over $46.3 million remain in unclaimed prizes, including an additional top prize of $2 million and four prizes of $100,000.

Players who purchased tickets in Cole County in FY24 won more than $14.8 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received more than $1.4 million in commissions and bonuses, and education programs in the county received more than $7.1 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
