While stopping for gas at QuikTrip, 6551 E. Front St. in Kansas City, a Missouri Lottery player decided to grab a soda and a couple of Scratchers tickets. Little did he know a ticket left unpurchased by an earlier customer would lead straight to a $100,000 top prize.
“The clerk said he had two “Extreme Green” tickets that a previous customer ended up not buying and asked if I wanted those,” the winner said.
Heading back out to the parking lot, he began scratching the tickets.
“I won $5 on the first ticket and was feeling pretty happy. I won half my money back,” he chuckled. “Then I scratched the second ticket and won $100,000! I couldn’t believe my luck!”
So far, “Extreme Green” players have won more than $4.2 million in prizes since the $5 game was released the end of March. Over $9.8 million in prizes remain unclaimed, including two additional top prizes of $100,000 and seven $20,000 prizes.
In FY24, players in Jackson County won more than $109.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $9.8 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $22 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
