A Missouri Lottery player won $50,000 when she purchased a ticket from one of her favorite Scratchers games – “$5,000,000 Fortune” – at Casey’s, 807 S. Missouri St., in Macon.
“I took the ticket out to my car and couldn’t believe it when I scanned it on my phone and it said, ‘Congratulations!’” exclaimed the winner.
She had never seen that before, so she drove to another store in town to use their scanner to check it again.
“It showed the same thing! Then I took it to the clerk to make sure it was really saying I won!” laughed the winner. “I’ve never won anything like this in my life!”
So far, “$5,000,000 Fortune” players have won over $109.5 million in prizes. Currently, there are still more than $143 million in prizes remaining unclaimed – including one $5 million top prize, three $1 million prizes and an additional 21 $50,000 prizes.
In FY24, players in Macon County won more than $2.3 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $229,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $135,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
