A Missouri Lottery player’s delayed stop at Circle K, 15530 Olive Blvd. in Chesterfield, turned out to be perfect timing – resulting in a top prize win on a “777 Jackpot” Scratchers ticket.
“I meant to stop the night before and get gas, but I forgot,” the winner explained. “I stopped that morning on the way to work and picked up one of those tickets.”
He scratched off the ticket and, at first, had trouble comprehending the prize amount.
“It honestly looked fake at first,” he said. “It was such an odd experience.”
The ticket contained one of the game’s top prizes of $777,777, and the winner said he had to double-check it several times before he believed it.
“Once I knew it was real, I started to panic a little bit!” he laughed. “I kept expecting something to happen before I got home with it!”
He eventually arrived back home safe and sound, where he quickly signed the ticket before putting it somewhere for safekeeping.
“My wife and I were going to take our 20th anniversary trip this year, and this will help fund that,” the winner added.
So far, “777 Jackpot” players have already won over $8.7 million in prizes since the game began on Feb. 24. There are currently over $25.3 million remaining in unclaimed prizes, including an additional top prize of $777,777 and three prizes of $77,777.
Players who purchased tickets in St. Louis County in FY24 won more than $200.8 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received more than $19.4 million in commissions and bonuses, and education programs in the county received more than $161.2 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
